Russ was a 32nd degree Mason, and a longtime member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. He also sang in his church choir and was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Falmouth, then later Faith Lutheran Church in Windham. Besides singing, Russ enjoyed bowling, golfing, boating on Big Sebago and Casco Bay and swimming.
He was predeceased by his mother and father; a sister, Frances Googins; a niece, Kristen Nelson; and first wife, Frances Washburn.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Russ' life on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at 1 p.m., at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 265 Middle Rd., Falmouth. There will be a private interment in the spring.
