Jean Lummus Daniel, 94, a loving wife and mother, died of natural causes, Saturday November 17, 2007 at King's Daughters Hospital. Visitation is today, 5-7 p.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Yazoo City with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery. Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City is handling the arrangements.
Jean was a sweet loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married William Lowndes Daniel, Jr. June 1950 and the couple lived in Pacific Palesades, California where their only child Bill was born in 1952. They moved to Yazoo City in 1961. Jean was an exceptional artist and was renown for her oil paintings of flowers, especially roses, and seascapes.
She was a member of the Yazoo Art Association and served as its president as well as holding other offices in the club. She loved life and brought smiles to everyone around her with her contagious laugh. She was completely devoted to her husband Lowndes before and after his death in 1994. She deeply loved her son, Bill, and two grandchildren Gabrielle and Jeremy. Mrs. Daniel was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: son, William L. "Bill" Daniel, III of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Gabriell Daniel of Cleveland, MS; grandson, Jeremy Daniel of Starkville, MS; brothers, Dr William L. Lummus of Anderson, South Carolina, and Jimmy Lummus of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
