Mildred Sue "Millie" Luke Conn Hansen

Mildred 'Millie' Sue Hansen, a direct care giver, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at her home after a long illness.
Millie was born June 18, 1947, in Joplin, Mo., to Forrest Edwin and Mildred Olive (Lowry) Luke.
She was a lifelong resident of Jasper and Newton Counties.
She married Larry Hansen on April 21, 1978.
She was licensed as a cosmetologist and a real estate agent.
She owned and operated the First Missionary Baptist Learning Station for several years.
She was a former secretary of the Business and Professional Women of Diamond and a founding member of the Ozark Wilderness Dulcimer Club.
She was an accomplished musician with the hammered dulcimer and the bowed psaltery.
She traveled the country as a story teller and playing the dulcimer as schools, churches and civic events.
She was known as the String Dancer.
Millie is survived by her husband of 28 years, Larry; her mother, Mildred; a daughter, Karol Owen, Joplin; two sons, Ted Conn, Lees Summit, Mo., and Shawn Hansen, Joplin; two sisters, Dorothy VanVolkinburg and Barbara Twenter, Joplin; two brothers, Bill Luke, Neosho, Mo., and Forrest Luke Jr., Mililani Town, Hawaii; and six well-loved grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Parker Mortuary.
