Stella Luján, age 86, a resident of Sabinoso, New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital on Santa Fe, NM, surrounded by her loving family. Stella was born in Trujillo, NM to the late Feliz Gutiérrez and Antonia Crespín Gutiérrez.
Stella was united in marriage on April 15, 1961 to Cipriano Luján at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Church in Sabinoso, NM. Stella and her husband, Cipriano were long time mayordomos of the unique village church.
Stella is preceded in death by her parents, Feliz Gutiérrez and Antonia Crespín-Gutiérrez, her husband, Cipriano Luján and her brothers, Felix Gutiérrez, Margarito Gutiérrez, Nash Gutiérrez, Eddie Gutiérrez, Eloy Gutiérrez, Adolfo Gutiérrez and Tony Gutiérrez.
Stella is survived by her daughter, Diane Luján-Romero and her husband, Dave Romero Jr. of Las Vegas, NM, son, Cipriano Luján Jr. and his girlfriend, Juliette of Sabinoso, grandchildren, Raven Romero and Dave Romero III all of Las Vegas, sister, Lucinda Luján and her husband, Henry of Las Vegas, NM, brothers, Alfredo Gutiérrez of Trujillo, NM, Willie Gutiérrez and his wife, Betty of Longmont, CO and Albert and Gloria Gutiérrez of Trujillo, NM, sisters-in-law, Martha Tafoya and her husband, Al of Phoenix, AZ, Theresa Trujillo and her husband, Solomon of Cheyenne, WY and Vangie Lucero and her husband, Frank of Albuquerque, NM and brother-in-law, Alfonso Luján of Roy, NM. Stella is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. George Salazar officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas. The following shall serve as pallbearers Jimmy Gutiérrez, Roderick Luján, Dave Romero III, Michael Gutiérrez, Frankie Joe Lucero and Patrick Gutiérrez.
