Annette, the only child of Carl and Freda Olin, was born in Cherokee, Iowa on March 3, 1922. Her childhood years were spent in Anacortes WA.
Following high school, she moved to Seattle to become a student at the University of Washington. Annette was a superior scholar, graduating with numerous honors and a nomination as the most outstanding student in the Home Economics Department.
Post graduation, Annette had a career as a dietitian until she married Harold Luiten who was to become her loyal husband of 63 years. Annette immediately put her Home Economic degree to work, and she and Harold created four beautiful homes and raised a family of three children, Cheryl L Welsh, Gary Olin Luiten, and Ross Harold Luiten. Throughout her life she would also welcome six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Home and family were her joy.
Quite artistic, Annette loved decorating, gardening and culinary activities. She worked tirelessly to create beautiful spaces and events. Annette expanded these talents into a career at the University of Washington where she was in charge of conference planning. She also contributed to the community thru her involvement in the Alpha Delta Phi Sorority, the Seattle Delphian Society, the Washington Heart Association, the Seattle Orthopedic Guild, and the Overlake Service League. Seattle and Bellevue were home until 1992 when Annette and Harold retired to Reno, NV.
Annette was a caring daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and her son, Ross.
A funeral service will be held at 1.00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Anacortes, Washington, with a private family burial to follow.
Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
