MRS. PETER AUTEN LAID TO REST HERE SATURDAY
Mrs. Peter Auten, well known former resident of Princeville, died suddenly Thursday morning, June 23, at her home in Champaign.
She had apparently been in good health and had prepared breakfast as usual. Mr. Auten, who had been in the next room, found Mrs. Auten slumped in a chair in the kitchen the victim of a cerebral hemmorrahage, which caused practically instant death.
The body was interred in the family lot in the Princeville cemetery after a brief service conducted at the grave by Rev. Lee H. Smith, minister of the Princeville Presbyterian church. Previously, a prayer service was held at the Mittendorf chapel in Champaign conducted by Rev. Melvin A. Pearce, minister of the First Presbyterian church of Urbana.

Arizona Lufkin Auten
Arizona Lufkin, daughter of John and Chloe-Allen Bagg Lufkin, was born Nov. 8, 1872, in Anna, Illinois. Her father was a native of Maine and her mother of Massachusetts.
She was graduated from the Boston Normal School of Gymnastics, Boston, Mass., and attended Mt. Holyoke College, Mass. After teaching in the Y. M. C. A. at Grand Rapids, Mich., and the Union Academy, then at Anna, Ill., she was for two years head physical training department in Southern Illinois Normal university at Carbondale.
Her marriage to Peter Auten took place in 1903 at Anna. They made their home in Princeville until 1930,then moved to Oak Park, where they resided two years, Mr. and Mrs. Auten moved to Champaign five years ago from Bloomington, where they had lived the preceding two years.
Mrs. Auten a member of the First Presbyterian church, Urbana, and at the time of her death was vice-president of the Missionary society of that church. She was also a member of the Thirty club of Champaign-Urbana.
Besides her husband, and son Richard, who resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, she leaves a foster daughter, Mrs. Jane Richardson, Grayville; one grandson, Indianapolis; a brother John E. Lufkin, Grenada, Miss.; and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Lufkin Alden, Mt. Carmel; also several nieces and nephews
