Eve G. Beam of Columbia, MO, and former longtime Claremont resident, died February 22, 2013 in Columbia. She was born in Bangor, ME, on June 30, 1941, the daughter of Roland J. and Phyllis (Penney) Lufkin.
Eve was the former executive director of the Claremont Opera House for 20 years, 10 of those as a volunteer. She remained very loyal to the opera house and was very involved with set design and lighting for various functions there. She was a very talented seamstress and costume designer and created many of the costumes worn during performances at the opera house. She loved to craft as well.
Eve held several ofﬁces in the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past matron and chaplain of the Claremont Grange #9.
She was the widow of Larry Beam who died March 18, 2007.
She is survived by a son, James Beam, Columbia, MO; a daughter, Phyllis Yuhas and her husband, Greg, Columbia, MO; two grandchildren Sarah Viens and Maria Yuhas, a sister, Bette Pfenning, Claremont, NH; two brothers, Walter Lufkin and his wife, Becky, Hampton, NH; Raymond Lufkin and his wife, Ann, Chinook, OH and several nieces and nephews including, Travis Pfenning, Warren Spencer and Roland Spencer.
