Obituary

The Hooper Sentinel
June 11, 1903

Fred Luecking, who formerly lived in the neighborhood of St. John's
church, northwest of Hooper, and later moved to Scribner, died in a
hospital in Omaha Tuesday. He had been very sick since Saturday,
and on Monday was taken to the hospital, but nothing could be done
to save his life. He had reached the age of nearly sixty-two
years, and was highly respected by his neighbors in the community
in which he had lived so long.

Frederick William Luecking was born in Westfalen, Germany, July 21,
1841, and came to the United States and to this community in 1868.
He had been married twice. The first time to Margaret Becker in
1870. Of this union five children were born, three of whom are now
living. In 1887 his first wife died, and a few years later he
married Augusta Degner, of West Point, who survives him.

The funeral will be held this afternoon from St. John's church,
conducted by Rev. A. Bergt, and the remains will be interred at the
cemetery three miles northwest of town.
