Funeral services for Albert John Ludwig of Rosenberg are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10 at Peace Lutheran Church, Radio Lane at Avenue I in Rosenberg, with Pastor A.R. Koenning officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth St. in Rosenberg.
Mr. Ludwig, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday Nov. 14, was born in 1902 in Burton to parents Fritz and Suzanna Ludwig. He died Nov. 8, 2002 at his home. He was a local farmer and member of the Farm Bureau. He was raised in the New Wehdem Lutheran Church and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Beasley for many years. Since 1965, he was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his son, Harvey Ludwig and his wife, Faye, of Rosenberg; his grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Fritz Claydon, of Friendswood, Laurie and her husband, Mike Speck, of Rosenberg, Carl and his wife, Jill Ludwig, of Rosenberg and Kristie and her husband, Troy Roberts, of Sugar Land; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jeffrey and Jennifer Claydon, Colby and Carson Speck, Taylor Ludwig, Sophie, Anna and Chloe Roberts; sisters-in-law, Olga Blase, Thekla Meineke, Dorothy Blase, Merilyn Leus, care giver Geneva Martinez and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Blase Ludwig in 1994; his brothers, Andrus, Fritz and Willie and sisters Mary Wehring, Bernita Schroeder and Annie Remmert.
