Ludden, 64, 1905 Commonwealth Ave., died Monday, Jan. 2, 1967 in a Madison hospital after a long illness. He was born in Bloomington and married the former Marion Haswell in 1926. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 1927. Dr. Ludden opened his office in Viroqua in 1928 and practiced there until 1946. He then practiced in Madison until retiring because of ill health in 1952. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1946 in the South Pacific. He was discharged with the rank of Major and received the Bronze Star, five foreign service bars, and the Bronze Service Medal. Dr. Ludden was a member of the First Congregational Church and Downtown Kiwanis, and was active with the Boy Scouts. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Commonwealth Lodge No. 325, the Madison Consistory, Zor Shrine; and the Madison Concert Band. He also was a member of the Dane county and Wisconsin Medical Societies, the American Medical Assn., the Wisconsin and the American Academies of General Practice. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. J. B. Ludden of Verona; two daughters, Mrs. James L. Hatleburg of Washington, DC and Mrs. Mark J. Bates of Oakland, CA; two brothers, Charles of Fond du Lac and Frank of Columbus, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Monroe Tubbs of Cross Plains and Mrs. W. G. Martin of Milwaukee; and 8 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church, 1509 University Ave. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Frautschi Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church.
