Elaine Schrader Luce was born April 16, 1933 in Mapleton, KS
At a very young age her parents passed and she was adopted by Paul and Juanita Schrader
She graduated from Shawnee Mission High 1951 and attended the Bethany Hosp School of nursing in Kansas City receiving her deploma in 1954.
Sept 2, 1956 she married Merton Luce in Shawnee Mission. they shared 54 years together before her passing he survives in Ottawa.
in 1957 she received her Bachelor of Christian Education from Taylor Univ in Indiana.
Elaine was the Director of Nursing for the Wellsville Manor, Country Haven in Paola and Fairlawn heights in Topeka from 1980 to 1992.
Elaine is survived by her husband, sons, Jim & Lisa of Springfield MO, Paul & Robyn rural Wellsville, John & Shirley Sparks NV and daughter Karen & Rodger Hudnall Gardnerville NV a brother Gordon Rodrock Mt Vernon, MO 11 grandchildren one great grandson
She was preceded in death by her biological and adoptive parents; two sisters Marvel and Freda and one granddaughter Eliza Luce.

Suggested edit: Elaine was the last daughter born to William Henry Rodrock and Jaine Elizabeth (Milton) Rodrock.

Her mother, Janie died in 1936 and her father, William Henry Rodrock died in a car accident in Riverside, California in 1940.

Elaine Schrader Luce, 77, Ottawa, Kan., passed away Friday, Feb. 25, at Ottawa Retirement Village.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 925 W. 7th St, in Ottawa. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, also at the church. Internment will follow services in the the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Miami County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shepherds Foundation or the Calvary Baptist Church in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, Kan., 66092.

She graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1951. She attended the Bethany Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, receiving her diploma in nursing in 1954.

On Sept. 2, 1956, she married Merton Luce in Shawnee Mission. They shared 54 1/2 years together before her passing. He survives and remains in Ottawa.

In 1957, she received her Bachelor of Christian Education from Taylor University in Indiana.

Elaine was the Director of Nursing for the Wellsville Manor, Country Haven in Paola and Fairlawn Heights in Topeka from 1980-1992. During that time, she attended graduate school and she received her Gerontological Nurse Practitioner certificate from the University of Kansas in 1982.

In 1993, after retiring, she and Merton moved to the Amazing Grace Baptist Camp in Ottawa where they lived and volunteered until 2004. Elaine was an avid letter writer, and enjoyed gardening, singing, sewing, reading and cooking.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Merton of the home; sons, Jim and his wife Lisa Luce, Springfield, Mo., Paul and his wife Robyn Luce, rural Wellsville, John and Shirley Luce, SparKan., NV; a daughter, Karen and her husband Rodger Hudnall, Gardnerville, N.V.; a brother, Gordon Rodrock, Mt. Vernon, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her biological and adoptive parents; two sisters, Marvel and Freda; and one granddaughter, Eliza Luce.
