She was united in marriage to John William McDonald on Jan. 18, 1910, and to this union six children were born. On January 2, 1944, William McDonald passed away. On May 27, 1961, she was united in marriage to John Richard Luce.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Harry and Gerald McDonald and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Duckworth, Mrs. Emma Dunning, Mrs. Inez Shaffer and Mrs. Mary Martz.

She is survived by her husband, John Luce, four children: Mrs. Harold Miller, Des Moines; Everett McDonald, Chariton; Asa McDonald, Des Moines; and Mrs. Dwight Wilson, Chariton; four sisters, Mrs. John Ritchey, Melrose; Mrs. Morris Scott, Chariton; Mrs. Etta Duckworth, Chariton; and Mrs. Fern Gerhart, Des Moines; one brother, George Umbenhower, Melrose; fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

It was in the fall of 1960, during a revival at Williamson, Iowa, that she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. Since that time, as her health permitted, she was faithful in church attendance.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. January 21, 1964, at the Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Homer Max officiated at the service. Interment was in the Coal Glen cemetery. Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
