Lester Richard Lucas, 84, died at home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, July 23, 2007.

He was born September 29, 1922 in Ogden, a son of George and Hannah Rose Taylor Lucas.

On July 21, 1943, Les married Margaret "Peggy" Jensen in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Peggy preceded him in death on December 24, 2006.

He was a lifelong resident of the Ogden area. During the winters, he and Peggy lived in Arizona and during the summers lived at their cabin in West Yellowstone on Hebgen Lake.

Les was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Coast Guard.

He retired from Hill Air Force Base where he worked as a maintenance foreman.

Les was a member and past president of the Ogden Eagles Lodge. He loved fishing, golfing, chopping wood, going for rides on his A.T.V. and was very talented with gardening.

Surviving are one son and two daughters, Roger L. (Kris) Lucas, Paulette Guieterrez, and Jodi (Kim) Hawks, all of Ogden; 19 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and his dog and faithful companion "Mitzi".

He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, son Daniel R. Lucas, daughter Ann Stocking, his parents, three brothers and one sister.

The family wishes to give thanks to Applegate Hospice for the loving care they gave to our father and mother. A special thanks to Hospice Nurse, Carrie, and CNA, Kelly.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
