Herman Ernie Lucas, 53, of Indiana 58 died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, in Brown County.
Mr. Lucas was employed at Cummins Engine Co. for 33 years, where he was a union board member. He was an avid softball player and raccoon hunter.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street. Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Mr. Lucas was born July 12, 1948, in Brown County, the son of Claudine Wilson Bowers of Columbus and Marvin E. Lucas, who is deceased. He married Cindy L. Ray Oct. 5, 1974. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Curtis Lucas of North Vernon, Jason Lucas of Columbus and Jim Lucas of Ogilville; a daughter, Gina Bratton of Columbus; a brother, Mike Lucas of Columbus; sisters, Diane Brown of Columbus, Beverly Norris of Greenwood and Tammy Lucas of Illinois; and grandchildren, Nathan and Kalynne Tolbert, Jeremy Bowman and Jacob, Samantha, Courtney and Faith Lucas, all of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Neva Arnett.
