daughter of William Cunningham (1764-1862)
Susanna Barbara Handyshel (1794-1843)

Married to Jesse Coburn Lowther

According to the book, "History of Ritchie County West Virginia", Jesse & Phebe had 12 children. The names of those who lived to adulthood were William, John, Margaret, Lydia, Barbara, Jane, Mary Ann and Matilda. The rest died in their youth.

DeLoss McKnight took the photo.
He relates the following info.

"At the top, the name P H E B. The last letter is obscured.
There is then a design in the center.
Underneath that are some words that I can't make out. They *look* like "wife of" but then again, it is very difficult to make out.

Then there is clearly Jesse C. Lowther.

Then the word "Died".

The June 11, 187 and what looks to be a "1" on the end.

Then the word "Aged". The rest of the line is unreadable.

The last line says "19 ds". This is consistent with the days on Phebe's birth of May 22 and death of June 11."
