Lillie Louise Love Baxter, 94, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2011 after a two year battle with Cancer.
Louise is survived by two sons, Robert Bud Baxter and Larry Baxter; five grandchildren, Mary Tipton and husband Terry, David Ray Baxter, Becky Baxter, Pam Uresti and husband Lee, Craig Baxter and wife Katherine and Sami Valentine and husband Ed; 12 great-grandchildren, Chad, Ana, Lauren, Misty, Kimberly, Dawn, Ashley, Clayton, Ethan, Wyatt and Nathan; three brothers, Tommy, Ray and James Love.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband R. C. (Bob) Baxter, her grandsons Bruce Baxter and Robert B. Baxter, Jr., sister Anne Leamon and brothers George, Jack, Mack, Bill and R.C. Love.
She was born on September 7, 1916 in Terrell, Texas to Lissie Odessa Taylor Love and Oscar Bud Love. After her father's passing when she was 15, she moved to Houston with her mother and siblings where they opened a restaurant Downtown, Love's Cafe. It was at that restaurant that she met the love of her life, Bob. He was working as a parking attendant and she always said that she was taken by how handsome he looked in his uniform. The two went on to create a beautiful family together and were married for 69 years until Bob's passing in 2002.
Louise will always be remembered for her sweet smile and warm spirit. She loved God, her family, her little dog Benji, hosting her annual Christmas party, watching the Houston Astros on TV, her regular Thursday visits to the beauty shop and all things pink and pretty. She lived in the same house for 47 years and treasured her neighbors and friends in Idylwood.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to Dr. Garth Beinart and his staff at Medical Clinic of Houston. Their dedication to Louise's care and the compassion that they showed to her during her Cancer treatment will never be forgotten.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday the 9th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale.Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale on Friday the 10th at 10:30am with the burial immediately following funeral services.
