Lord played with the Boston Americans (1907), Boston Red Sox (1908 to 1910), Chicago White Sox (1910 to 1914), and finished with the Buffalo Buffeds in the Federal League (1915). In 3,691 plate appearances he batted .277 with 294 runs batted in. His 17 home runs topped everyone in the Federal League in 1915. He was a player/manager for Buffalo in 1915. His best year was 1911 when he batted .321. Lord was blacklisted by the National and American Leagues for playing in the Federal League.
