Evelyn "Jacque" Rachel Longino
Memorial services for Evelyn "Jacque" Rachel Longino will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Union Hall Baptist Church, Coushatta, LA with Bro. Olan McLaren officiating and Bro. Tom Smith assisting. Services are under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home, Coushatta, LA.
Jacque was born March 22, 1945 in Red River Parish, LA and passed away at the young age of 67 on April 7, 2012 in Shreveport, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruffin and Opal Longino.
Jacque is survived by her six siblings, Wayne Longino and wife, Carrie of Coushatta, LA, Elaine Cloud and husband, Bobby of Benton, LA, Marie Elliott and husband, James of Shreveport, LA, Robie Longino and wife, Glynda of Campti, LA, Tonie Longino and wife, Vickie of Coushatta, LA, and Gene Longino and wife, Evelyn of Coushatta, LA; nieces and nephews: David Longino and wife, Juanita, Sharon Moseley and husband, Jack, Michelle Matthews, Cindy Cloud, James Elliott, Fran Robles, Bryan Longino and wife, Elizabeth, Kevin Longino and wife, Carol, Tina McCain and husband, Paul, Anthony Longino and wife, Becky, Holly Shaver and Steve, Roger Longino, Michael Longino and wife, Karen, and Brad Longino.
Jacque attended Martin Elementary, Fairview Alpha, and graduated from Coushatta High School in 1962. Jacque also attended Centenary College before working at the Shreveport Times. She then entered a lifelong career as both an employee of and contract worker for International Business Machines (IBM) in Dallas, TX.
Jacque was blessed with many talents and skills in her employment, earning many distinguished awards, sincere "Thank Yous," and honors. She also enjoyed buying older homes and remodeling them both in Shreveport, LA and Dallas, TX. Above all, Jacque loved her family and many special friends that lasted through the years. She loved to garden, whether it was vegetables, plants, or flowers. Jacque also enjoyed daily Bible devotions and practiced the Golden Rule daily. Her death leaves a hole in our hearts.
Longtime executive secretary to Shreveport Times Executive Editor Raymond McDaniel. Worked at The Times from 1963 to 1974, when she went to work at IBM. Lived in the Dallas area around 20 years, but eventually returned to Louisiana for health reasons. Choked while eating at Natchitoches Assisted Living on April 5, 2012, and was without oxygen for a short time. Taken to Highland Hospital in Shreveport and put on life support. Died after being taken off life support.
