PFC, US ARMY
WORLD WAR II

Tommy O'Conner Longino, 83, was born in 1922 and died at his home in Pensacola, Fla., on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, surrounded by family and friends. He was a valiant man and put up a strong fight. He did not want to leave us and we did not want him to go, but his body could take no more. He leaves a hole in our hearts and our homes.

Tommy was born in Winn Parish and was a World War II veteran. He lived for many years in Baton Rouge, where he had several businesses and managed many others. He retired to Pensacola, however, and continued to work for many years. Tommy exemplified James 1:27, "look after the orphans and widows." He was a man of great compassion with a huge capacity to love; always ready to help those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents, all his brothers and sisters, and a son and daughter-in-law, William Allen and Laura Hurley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Sarah Longino, who cared for him daily the last two years of his life; three daughters, Meloda Longino, Peggy Hurley and Bonnie Stevens; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kei Parrish; 11 grandchildren, Angie Simon, Billy and wife Dannette Simon, Greg Simon, Brandi Hurley, Sarah Stevens, Jason and wife Robin Hurley, Kristina and husband Glenn White, Jacob Hurley, Jay and wife Michelle, Steve and wife Tonya, and Ashley "Sue Ellen" Parrish; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Service will be at Faith Chapel South, Pensacola, (850) 432-6146. The family received friends Sunday, April 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral service is Monday, May 1, at 11 a.m. with Meloda Longino officiating. Interment in Barrancas National Cemetery.
