Sadie Long Ammons, 73, of Chattanooga, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 17, 2011.

She was the daughter of the late Roy Bluford and Hazel Long and was the wife of the late R.S. Rupert Stanley Ammons and was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Joe Hooper; brother, Newman Long; sister, Lydia "Gay" Kenner.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Donna Mae) Hooper, David (Vivialee) Hooper; daughter, Rosa Jackson (Devin Clark); six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leather (Karen) Long and R.B. Long; four sisters, Flossie (Harold) Dale, Reba (Joe) Baker, Virginia (Trammel) Cleary, Jeleta (Edward) Baker; brother-in-law, Johnny Kenner; several nieces and nephews and several other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Greg Banther officiating.

Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN.
