George Daniel Logan, 62, of 145 Home Ave. died at 7:30 am yesterday in St.Marys hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday. He had been in failing health since June 1953.
Mr.Logan was born March 18, 1894 in Burkeville,Ky, a son of James and Trannie Jennings Logan. He was married to Ruth Donahue, June 30, 1951 in Decatur. Mrs.Logan is the daughter of the late Jerry Donahue, former part owner and editorial and political writer for the Review.
Mr. Logan was a chef and worked in Decatur at the Winery, the Town Pump, The Farm and the Decatur Club. He operated his own restaurant and was recently in the in the insurance business. Mr. Logan was a member of the St.Johns Episcopal church and a veterna of WWI. He had lived in Decatur since 1926 coming here from Arcola.
Mr.Logan leaves his mother of Campbellsvillle, Ky, wife of Decatur,two sons, Dan of Oak Park, Mich. and Ralph of Witchita Falls, Tex.,in Air Force, two daughter,Mrs.Norma Jean Churchill, Mrs. Wanda DeVore of Portland, Ore, three brothers, Clyde of Campbellsville,Ky, Reed of Paris, Tenn,Tim of Tuscola, three sisters,Mrs. Willard Williams Mrs. May Perkins, Mrs. Hazel Wilson, all of Campbellsville Ky. and eight grandchildren.
Requiem Eucharist will be said at 10 am Friday in St. Johns Episcopal church with burial in Greenwood cemetery.
Friends may call at the J. J.Moran & Sons funeral home after 7 pm today and at the church from 8 am to 10 am Friday. Instead of flowers the family requests, gifts be sent to the St. Johns Memorial fund, 530 N. church st.
