Gary J. Loftus, 51, of Meadow Crossing, Simsbury, beloved husband of Patricia (Pazik) Loftus, died Monday (July 5, 2010) in a car accident in Pennsylvania.
He was born December 5, 1958 in Bayonne, NJ, son of Ann (Papp) Loftus of Bayonne, NJ and Sunset Beach, NC and the late John Loftus, and had lived in Bayonne, NJ prior to moving to Simsbury twenty-five years ago.
He was a graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Class of 1980, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1987, where he received his Masters Degree in Business.
Mr. Loftus was Vice President & General Manager of Goodrich Corporation (formerly Chandler Evans) in West Hartford, where he worked for twenty-eight years and the past two years in both Cheshire and Vergennes, VT.
He enjoyed watching his children play sports including hockey, baseball and lacrosse. In the winter time you could always find him at the hockey rink with a cup of coffee in his hand. He loved watching Mets baseball games with the family. In his free time he enjoyed going to Wildwood and spending time on the beach fishing and dreamed of buying a boat someday. He was a great husband and dad and will be dearly missed.
Besides his loving wife of almost twenty-seven years and his mother, he is survived by his six sons, Jason, Christopher, Kevin, Ryan, Michael, Matthew, and two daughters, Nicole and Katie, all of Simsbury; his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Donna Loftus Colleyville, TX; his sister and brother-in-law, Allison and Steven Wright Robinsville, NJ; brother-in-law, Arthur Pazik and his wife MiYoung; sister-in-law, Linda Materowski and her husband Ronald; and his nieces and nephews, Lauryn, Joey, Nicholas, Brandon, Caitlin, Megan.
Friends may call at Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Simsbury.
Burial will be in Simsbury Cemetery.
