Paul was the second son of J. Frederic and Dorotha Loft. He had five brothers and seven sisters.

He was graduated from Dayton High School in 1937 and was a veteran of World War II (having served in the Army Medical Corps from 1942 to 1946).

Paul and Hazel were united in marriage in Mulberry on January 12, 1950, and reared two sons.

Paul was a farmer, a carpenter, and worked in maintenance at the Williamsburg Apartments.

Paul was called to his heavenly home on November 29, 2006.
