Jennie M. Day was born July 10, 1884 in Duluth, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Gabriel Lofgren, born in Finland, and Margret Ahlgren, born in Sweden.
A resident of King County in May 1947, Mrs. Day indicated that she was then 62 years of age and was applying for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home. She was the widow of Alexander Day, Corporal, Air Service, who died February 12, 1924 at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, California. They had been married February 12, 1924 in Seattle, Washington. She was the mother of two children, Arthur F. Day who resided in Seattle and Gladyse E. Werden, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana in 1947. A widow's pension was awarded to Mrs. Day on certificate C:1268 144 of $75 a month.
She was a member of the Veterans' Home five separate ocassions and was always honorably discharged.
Mrs. Day's sister was Mrs. F. N. Jefferson of 4419 34th South, Seattle, Washington.
Mrs. Day died April 21, 1952 at 2:35 PM at the Veterans Home and is buried in the Home Cemetery there. The American Legion Auxiliary assisted in the funeral. The Veterans' Home remarked that Mrs. Day's funeral was "one of most impressive funerals ever held at home".
