Michael Colin Lodge, of Edmond, Oklahoma, was born on October 17, 1973 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After a brave battle with leukemia, Michael went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 30th, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City at the age of 35. Michael fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. Michael leaves many memories for his loving and faithful wife Amy (Sharki) Lodge, and his daughter, Alyssa Ann Lodge.
Moving with his family to California in 1980, Michael spent most of his school years in the San Jose area before moving back to Oklahoma in 1992. Michael attended the University of Central Oklahoma and was the Kinesiology Department's Student of the Year in 2004. He was employed as a Medical Assistant for Oklahoma Cardiovascular Associates, a Certified Personal Trainer and a proud member of the Lego Club.
Michael served in the ministry for several years being licensed as a minister by Henderson Hills Baptist Church. He served as a youth intern at Waterloo Road Baptist Church and is remembered as the cool sponsor everyone wanted to sit by in chapel. He endeared himself to the youth by always remembering their names, especially the new ones, and by pulling the coolest pranks at church camp. Michael's witty remarks and sarcastic sense of humor entertained all who knew him continuing even into the last days of his life. He touched the lives of countless people.
Michael and Amy were married for thirteen lucky years, having wed on March 22, 1996. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Alyssa Ann Lodge, of the home, June 9, 2000. She was his "LewLew" whom Michael loved dearly. She loved spending time with her daddy.
Michael was an aspiring chef and loved cooking, especially with Alyssa, leaving her with many kitchen memories (Papa Lews Café) and cooking skills that surpass even her mother's. Michael leaves special memories with several cousins who remember painting together with Granddaddy George and getting into lots of trouble with him. He was loved by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Rev. George and Argivena Gaidaroff.
In addition to his wife Amy and daughter Alyssa, Michael is survived by his mother Janell Ann Lodge, Edmond, Oklahoma, and father Michael Dwain Lodge, Texas; his sister Chelle Guttery and her husband Bruce Guttery, Denver, Colorado; his paternal grandmother Queen Ann Lodge; his mother and father-in-law Martin and Emily Sharki, Texas; sisters-in-law Lea Ann and Jim Keeny, Texas, Kara and Mark McKeny, Tampa, Florida, and Dee Sharki; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 4th, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossings Community Church at Portland and N.W. 150th. The family is asking that you wear something orange, Michael's favorite color and the color of the cancer ribbon for leukemia. Contributions may be sent to the Michael Lodge Memorial Fund, c/o Valliance Bank, 1601 NW Expressway, Ste. 100, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
