ROXBURY/SAUK CITY - Anna Frey, age 105, Sauk County's oldest citizen, died on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Berry Township on Nov. 17, 1897, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Mathilda (Ketelboeter) Lochner. She was united in marriage to George Frey on May 29, 1923, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Martinsville. Anna was a good cook and baker and a wonderful mother. She was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women, and was a volunteer at Maplewood for many years. She is survived by nine children, Harold (Phyllis) Frey of Sauk City, Matilda (Charles) Schepp of Madison, Bernard (Dolores) Frey of Sauk City, Philip (Rita) Frey of Sauk City, Howard (Irene) Frey of Sauk City, Roman (Carol) Frey of Sauk City, James (Billie) Frey of Sauk City, Ralph (friend, Joan Riechman) Frey of Sauk City, and David (Judy) Frey of Sauk City; daughter-in-law, Barbara Frey of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a brother, Joe (Margarita) Lochner of Jackson, Calif.; 59 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, George Jr.; three grandchildren, Steve and Keith Frey and Emily Schepp; three brothers; and four sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. NORBERT'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Roxbury, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, with Father LaVerne Meier officiating. Burial will be in St. Norbert's Cemetery.
