The son of Michael & Barbara (Kunkle) Little, he married Agnes Weaver November 26, 1850, and fathered William Henry (b. 11/27/51), John Samuel (b. 07/15/54), Francis Xavier Michael (b. 06/18/56), Louise Agnes Ann (b. 06/11/58), James Cornelius (b. 07/03/59), and Joseph Ignatius (b. 03/21/62). In 1860, he was a mason living in Conewago Township, Adams County, and stood 5' 7" tall with black hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Adams County October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service at Gettysburg November 15 as a private with Co. G, 165th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), promoted to corporal December 26, and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, at Gettysburg.

He died at age 64-2-8.
