John N. Litke was born on December 6, 1910 on a farm near Morrill, MN to the late Flaudy and Katherine
( Kachmarzinski) Litke. After his father died the family bought a farm in Platte Township near the town of Harding, where he grew up. John graduated eighth grade at Platte School District # 87. He joined the U.S. Navy shortly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, where he was trained in refrigeration and received more training after being discharged from the Navy. He then started Litke's Electric Refrigeration Sales and Services in Harding, MN. John was united in marriage to Frances Bieganek on July 19, 1944 at Holy Cross Church in Harding, MN. They were happily married for 53 years. John was a lifetime member of the VFW and a long standing member of Holy Cross Church in Harding. He loved, baseball, horseshoe, bowling, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his sons Terry Litke and wife Carol of Dawson, MN, Michael Litke and wife Joy of Brainerd, MN, Gary Litke and wife Lou of Forest Lake, MN, Dennis Litke and wife Diane of Brainerd, MN, and Glen Litke of St. Cloud, MN; daughters Lois Johnson of Castle Rock, WA, and Bonnie Schiller and husband John of Baxter, MN' brother Leo Litke of Harding, MN; sister Alice Isle of Brainerd, MN; 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, parents, a son, John, brothers, Alfred and Bill Litke, sisters, Clara Otten, Rose Solinger, and Helen Moser. Blessed be his memory.
