Evie Liptrap Buchanan was the wife of Andrew Sylvester Buchanan and mother of Georgia Dunlap Buchanan and Cottie Walters Buchanan. She had one grandson, Donald Lee Hedrick, who has talked about days spent hunting in the woods close by her home at Middlebrook, Virginia, where she spent her entire life with the exception of a few years before her death when she stayed with her daughters. Poor vision was a handicap to her much of her life, but she continued on despite the difficulties. After her home was sold, she moved to Roanoke where she died in 1960.
