Dorothy (Liptrap) Buchanan, 82, widow of Henry Franklin Buchanan of 1814 Summerdean Road, Middlebrook, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Augusta Medical Center. She was born Aug. 3, 1926, in Bells Valley, a daughter of the late Isaac Larkin and Nellie Frances (Piner) Liptrap.
Prior to retirement, Mrs. Buchanan was a cook at Middlebrook and Riverheads Elementary schools. She was a member of McKinley United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, who died May 11, 2000, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Virgie M. Miller, Florence L. Martin, Thelma M. Ellinger and Louise Craun, and three brothers, John L., Woodrow W. and James H. Liptrap. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Family members include three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Ann Buchanan, Roger and Sue Buchanan and David and Shirley Buchanan; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Robert Cason, all of Staunton; grandchildren, Roger Buchanan Jr., Eric and Mark Alan Buchanan, Martha McFarlane, Brian David, Lisa and Kevin Buchanan and Bruce Cason; great-grandchildren, Henry, Catherine and Patrick Buchanan and Andrew McFarlane; and a number of nieces and nephews.
