James Richard Lipscomb, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of San Francisco, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Carrington Place after a brief illness. He was 61. James was a Maintenance Repair Master for the Office of State Buildings at the Louisiana State Capitol Building for 15 years, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy.

Visitation until memorial service in the Chapel of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Estes Lipscomb; two daughters: Ruth Winecoff and husband Will, Martha Lipscomb; step-son Nathan Robson; brother, Louis; two sisters: Doris and Mary Yvonne.

Preceded in death by his parents: Lafar and Rowena Lipscomb, and a daughter Sarah Lipscomb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
