Margaret Angeline Lindsey was born in 1828 to William K. Lindsey and Margaret Kelly in Lawrence County, Tennessee. She married Allen Hill Bryan on April 17, 1843 and had seven children.
Tragedy struck the family in 1862, and both Allen and Margaret died of typhoid Fever just one month apart. They are buried in unmarked graves behind where his house stood at the fork of Factory Creek and Shoal Creek in Lawrence County, Tennessee. The house burned shortly after the Civil War.
Robert L McLaren was the administrator of Allen H. Bryant's estate, appointed by the Court 1 December 1862. On 3 September 1866 the Lawrence County court appointed John McLaren to act as guardian of the minor children of Allen and Margaret. The five children listed by name were Jacob A., Sarah A. James M, Louisa J, and Martha N. It also appears that a Mrs. Bryant is part of the list. This is probably Jacob's wife since he married in January of that year.
