Ben Harold Lindsey

Ben Harold Lindsey, of 411 Holly Springs Road, Lyman, S.C., passed away Tuesday following a prolonged illness, with his wife and children present.

Mr. Lindsey was born in Greer, S.C., son of the late James Henry Lindsey and Frances Verden Lindsey. He was a member of Duncan First Baptist Church, where he served in the choir. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons. Mr. Lindsey retired from Springs Industries after 43 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Sellars Lindsey; two daughters, Linda Corne and her husband, Bo, of Duncan, and Janice Fetter and her husband, Stuart, of Charleston; two sons, Ben Harold Lindsey Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Summerfield, N.C., and Jeff Lindsey and his wife, Tina, of Easley; six grandchildren, Dr. Cindy Carter, Christy Brummett, Brandon Lindsey, Kyle Lindsey, Sloan Lindsey, and Taylor Rae Lindsey; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Johnnie Gilstrap and Clara Spears; and two brothers, Billy Lindsey and Donald Lindsey and his wife, Marguerite.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct 20, 2005, at Duncan First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at the church. Services will led by Mitch Crowe, assisted by Sam Coates. Burial will be at The Wood Memorial Park, Greer, S.C.

Pallbearers: Brandon Lindsey, Kyle Lindsey, Doyle Lindsey, Shannon Lindsey, Arthur Sellars, and Mike McKinney. Honorary Escort: B.P. Martin and Baraca Sunday School Class, Alf McGinnis, Mike Johnson, and Tom Lomax.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to District 5 Ministries, c/o Middle Tyger Community Center, 84 Groce Road, Lyman, SC 29365; or to Duncan First Baptist Church, 101 E. Main St., Duncan, SC 29334.

The family wishes to thank all of those who have offered prayers and support during Mr. Lindsey's illness. Special thanks to Mitch, Peggy, Mike and Tom. The family will be at the home of Linda and Bo Corne, 299 Beech Springs Road, Duncan, following services.
