Alvin Paul Lind of Scituate, age 81, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Jan. 28, 2010. Mr. Lind was born in Quincy, MA, graduated from Quincy HS, Thayer Academy and Tufts University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Lind was the co-owner of Karls Auto Body Repair Company in Quincy before becoming an independent insurance appraiser for numerous insurance companies. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Ann (Mack) Lind, a son, Stephen J. Lind of Scituate, 2 daughters, Pamela J. McCallum and Paula J. Lind both of Scituate. He is also survived by a grandson, Timothy S. McCallum of Scituate, and his brother Fred C. Lind of Hingham. He is also brother to the late Roy A. Lind. Mr. Lind was a communicant of St. Lukes Episcopal Church where in his early years was very active, as well as being a vestry member. He was also a long time member of the Scituate Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Recipient. A memorial gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, Feb. 1 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Rd, Scituate. A Memorial Service will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Norwell VNA, 91 Longwater Circle, Norwell, MA 02061 and/or the Scituate Animal Shelter, 780 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate, MA 02066.
