Rosemary (Lincoln) Benson was born on Tuesday; August 20, 1935 in Grinnell; Poweshiek County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Albert and Alice (Robinson) Lincoln. Rosemary was raised in Monroe; Monroe County, Iowa and was a graduate of Monroe High School. On Saturday; April 24, 1954 she was married to Jerry Benson, at the Kellogg United Methodist Church in Kellogg; Jasper County, Iowa. The couple operated the Standard Oil service station in Kellogg for a few years and then moved to a farm east of Grinnell, Iowa. In 1966, they moved to their present farm in Rock Creek Township, Iowa. She was employed for 15 years at the Taste Freeze, later the Dairy Barn, in Grinnell and more recently she was employed part-time with her daughter at Hawkeye Tack in Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa. She was a member of the Farm Bureau and Rock Creek Neighborly Neighbors. In 1970, her family was selected Farm Family of the Year in Jasper County and the Southeast Iowa District. Rosemary loved cooking and was considered a master at baking. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, Pillsbury dough boy items, and western theme statues. She enjoyed for many years driving her children throughout the Midwest to horse shows and watching them participate. She was their biggest fan! Rosemary (Lincoln) Benson, age 72, of Grinnell, Iowa passed away on Monday; June 9, 2008, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton; Jasper County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her husband: Jerry Benson of Grinnell, Iowa. Her three children: Sherry Hansen of Prairie City; Jasper County, Iowaa. Brett Benson of Oklahoma City; Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and Bart Benson of Grinnell, Iowa. her step-father: Ralph Bates of Newton, Iowa. Her one brother: Richard Lincoln of Newton, Iowa. Her one step-brother: Dale Hume of Monroe, Iowa. Her two half-sisters: Patricia Johnson of Albia; Monroe County, Iowa and Joyce Palm of Monroe, Iowa. Also her six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Terry Benson and one step-sister: Pauline Fales. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. with the family being present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday; June 12, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg, Iowa.
