PEORIA -- Services for Victor H. "Shorty" Lincoln , 72, of 915 S. Helen, who was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1,
1997, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Western Chapel. The Rev. Ken Yocum will officiate.
Visitation will be one hour before services at the chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
He was struck and killed by a car in the 2300 block of Southwest Jefferson Avenue.
Born March 13, 1924, in Flushing, N.Y., to Harry and Claudia Lincoln , he married Rose Mary Schwartz on Oct. 28, 1946, in Flushing. She died in May 1974 in Peoria.
One daughter, Rose Marie Smith, and one brother also preceded him in death.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Dawn Marie Smith of Bartonville and Terri L. Youngman of Peoria, who took care of him; and three sisters, Gladys Lair of East Peoria, Mavis Garger of New York City and Hazel Markovitch.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Europe. He later served with the National Guard.
He worked in maintenance at the YWCA from 1980 until retiring in 1989. He volunteered at South Side Manor, where he lived, Methodist Medical Center and the YWCA. He was an honorary lifetime member of American Legion Post 2, where he served with the Color Guard. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8662 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
