Clear Lake, SD – Eva Finnegan, age 96, of Clear Lake, SD died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center, Clear Lake, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tues., Dec. 27, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clear Lake. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 26th from 5 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clear Lake. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake. The Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake is entrusted with the arrangements.

Eva T. Finnegan was born on November 26, 1915 to John and Gay (Ubben) Limberg in Antelope Valley, Deuel County, South Dakota. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school District #42. Following her education, Eva helped on the family farm and also worked at Kruseville Service Station. It was at the Kruseville Service Station where she met her future husband LeRoy Finnegan. On February 15, 1939 she was united in marriage to LeRoy Finnegan in Milbank, SD. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm northwest of Clear Lake, SD where they farmed and raised their family. In 1983, after 44 years of farming, they retired and moved into Clear Lake. On December 5, 1987 LeRoy passed away.

Eva remained in her home in Clear Lake until she entered the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center on November 28, 2011. Eva passed away there on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the age of 96 years and 25 days. Eva was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clear Lake, SD. She was dedicated to her faith and to being a homemaker and a mother. Eva enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning, embroidery work and playing cards.

Eva is lovingly remembered by her four sons: Dennis (Lois) Finnegan, Rapid City, SD, Paul Finnegan, Coon Rapids, MN, Steven (Karla) Finnegan, Clear Lake, SD and James (Tamara) Finnegan, Clear Lake, SD; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy; parents; five brothers: Conrad, George, John, Charles and Eilly Limberg; three sisters: Louise Kenyon, Helen Forsyth and Lillian Boyd; daughter-in-law Karen Finnegan and grandson Matthew Finnegan.
