Evelyn Liles Adams, 86, died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 13, 1914 in Caruthersville, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Portageville where she taught a children's Sunday School class for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Portageville and an active member of P.E.O. where she served in numerous offices. In addition, she was a bookkeeper for the family business, Adams Seed & Supply for over 25 years.
Adams was preceded in death by her parents Clyde S. and Clella R. Kerr Liles; her spouse Arvil V. Adams; two sisters, Beryl Edwards and Rita Rogers.
Survivors include her son Arvil Van Adams of Springfield, VA.; three grandchildren, Gregory Edwards Adams of Arlington, VA., Christopher Conner Adams of Springfield, VA., and Cynthia Liles Adams Hennigh of Arlington, VA.; her sister, Leanna Howser of Lenexa, KS; and 23 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Inman officiating.
Burial followed in the Portageville Cemetery with DeLisle Funeral Home in charge.
