Daniel L. Lightcap of New Britain Borough died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, after a long and difficult battle with cancer at Vitas Hospice, Philadelphia. He was 62.

He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Mammie Edith James Lightcap. Born in Abington, he was the son of the late Wilson A. and Caroline F. Clime Lightcap, and brother of the late John Lightcap.

Dan grew up in Rushland, Pa. and was a 1971 graduate of Council Rock High School. After graduating he joined the U.S. Air Force and upon his return in 1975, moved to Doylestown and began his career with the Doylestown Borough Public Works Department. He learned everything and from the ground up and in 2012, after 37 years, he retired as the director of Public Works.

Those who knew Dan knew he was a free spirit, hard worker, independent thinker and dedicated American. He loved his family, his country, his dogs and especially his Harley Davidson. He traveled the country on his motorcycle savoring the smell of fresh air and the adventure of the open road. His passion for life was woven into the spirit of his being and will always be remembered by his family and friends.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jada Marie Lightcap and Edward James Sculles.

His family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Sunday, May 24, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901. His interment will be held at a later date.
