Obituary: Douglas County Herald August 6, 1981: "Services Monday for Oscar H. Lietch, 89 -- Services for Oscar Herman Lietch, 89, of Route 5, Ava, were held at 2 P.M. Monday at Walnut Grove Church with the Rev. Lawrence Applegate officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery under direction of Clinkingbeards of Ava.
Mr. Lietch was a longtime resident of the Ava area. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War I, having served with the U.S. Army.
He died at 10:30 A.M. July 31 at his home in Ava following a long illness.
Born Nov. 3, 1891 at Brown Branch, he was a son of Franklin L. and Melissa D. Jackson Lietch. He married Ella Jennings October 27, 1920 at Brown Branch. Mrs. Lietch survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Charlie and Bill, both of Ava; two daughters, Mrs. Margie Phipps, Aurora, Ore., and Mrs. Elva Bretton, Springfield; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren."
