Services are pending with West Funeral Home for Ester Leyva, 71, 509 W. Irvin St., who died at her home today.
A resident of Carlsbad 50 years, she was born in Chihuahua, Chih., Mexico. When she was three years old her family moved to Alpine, Tex. She was married to I.A. (Pete) Leyva there. In the 1920s they moved to Malaga and then here.
Mrs. Leyva was a member of San Jose Mission.
Survivors include the widower, I.A. (Pete), Carlsbad; mother, Concepcion Loya, Carlsbad; three sons, P.R., Carlsbard, Delbert, San Jose, Calif., and Pete, Hobbs; three daughters, Mrs. Tommie Cerda, Sylvia Navarrette and Angelita Gonzales, all of Carlsbad; one brother, Carols Loya, Carlsbad; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be held today at 7 p.m. in the West Funeral Home Chapel for Mrs. Ester R. Leyva, 71, who died at her home Friday.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the San Jose Mission with Father Loren Kozial reading the mass. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Pall bearers are Heriberto Navarette, Pilar Navarette, Joe Flores, Juan Villa, Joe Jordan, and Julio Juarez.
