PRINCESS ANNE — Ruth Cecelia Black, 81, of Princess Anne died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at The Harbor Hospital in Baltimore City. Born on Dec. 8, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Hazel and Elmer Lewis.
Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in West Post Office.
She is survived by three children, Donald Redman of Cumberland, Md., Susan Mell of Brooklyn Park, Md., and Nikki Spicer of Colora, Md. Her nine grandchildren are J. C. Redman, Kelli Guthrie, Shon Applegate, Misty Maldonado, Shane Booth, Michael Booth, Jamey Woodall, Tanya Weisenberg and Jacob Woodall. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, a great-great-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. Three surviving brothers are James Lewis of Baltimore, Charles Lewis of Pennsylvania and Jackson Lewis of North Carolina. Her late husband was Charles E. Black. A late sister was Elma Fletcher, a late brother was "Tink" Lewis and a late granddaughter was Ruthie Applegate.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church in West Post Office. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Pastor Larry Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
