Chester A. Lewis - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL died Sunday, January 24, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Lewis was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, the Knights of Columbus and a mystic society. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Lewis retired from Smith's Bakery with over 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Clare Green Lewis and Lydia Schottgen Lewis, his parents, Arthur P. & Dolly Hammond Lewis; two brothers, Charles "Tiny" Lewis and Clarence "Butch" Lewis; and one sister, Deborah Jean Lewis. Survivors include four sisters, Dorothy (John) Santa Cruz, Lillian, AL, Shirley Davis, Hampton, VA, Barbara Ann Piggott, Wilmer, AL and Elaine (Roger) Saucier, Satsuma, AL; five step-children, Karen Wombel, Chile, Cheryl Bacon, Mobile, AL, Debra Fillingim, Mobile, AL, Teresa (Rob) Senn, Mobile, AL and Michael Rhodden, Orlando, FL; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lewis, Mobile, AL and Gloria Bishop, Fairhope, AL; one brother-in-law, Andrew (Faye) Schottgen, Fairhope, AL; a devoted caregiver, Rhonda Richardson; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, with the Rosary at 10:15 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the S.P.C.A. or your favorite charity. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Chester A. Lewis - Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor G. Warren Wall as celebrant. Con-celebrant was Reverend Monsignor James S. Kee, J.V. Deacon of the Mass was Deacon Edward G. Connick. Pallbearers were Butch Lewis, Karen Lewis, Kevin Saucier, John Santa Cruz, Jr., Rob Senn, and Buzzie Jordan. Interment was in Pine Crest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin Street, Mobile, Alabama 36606.
