Mr. Carl Douglas Lewis, 67, of 103 Burton St., Beckley, died 10 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House.

Born June 22, 1942, in Arista, W.Va., he was the son of the late William H. Lewis and Mary B. Woodson Lewis.

He was a retired Federal Correctional Officer, Marine Corps Veteran and member of the Heart of God Ministries.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William H. Lewis, Arthur Lewis, George Lewis, and James Lewis; and five sisters, Lucille Lewis Moon, Aubrey Jean Lewis, Virginia Lewis Gilmore, Delphia Lewis Ruffin and Lillian Lewis Johnson.

Left to cherish precious memories are three brothers, Walter Lewis of Greensboro, N.C., Rev. Paul Lewis of Columbia, S.C., and Jerry Lewis of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Mary Lewis Bellinger and Betty Lewis Malvoisin, both of Amityville, N.Y.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009, at the Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
