Birth: Jan. 28, 1845
Knox County
Illinois, USA
Death: Feb. 26, 1916
East Galesburg
Knox County
Illinois, USA

Her birth year is in question. Her obituary cites her birth year as 1843, but the 1900 census, where she is enumerated with her daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte & William Swanson, cites it as 1845. She married Francis Marion Lewis on 24 October 1861 in Knox County, Illinois; if she was born in 1843, she would have only been 16, but 1845 would make her 18 instead.

OBITUARY: EAST GALESBURG WOMAN DIES
After a lingering illness, Mrs. Elizabeth Cubbage Lewis, an aged resident of East Galesburg, passed away at her home Saturday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock. She had been in poor health for three years, but was able to be about the house until 9 o'clock Saturday morning. Her sickness at that time took a sudden turn for the worse and the end came a few hours later.
She was born near Henderson, IL, January 28th, 1843. Her marriage to FM Lewis took place October 24th, 1861. Nine children were born to the union.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of the local First Methodist church for many years and her many friends will be grieved to hear of the loss of a Christian friend. At one time she lived in Galesburg.
Surviving are her husband, four daughters, Lovina E Dodds of East Galesburg, Eliza A Armstrong of Soperville, Florence A Potts of Gladstone, Lillie M Potts of Harmon and two sons, Charles E Lewis of Galesburg and Albert E Lewis of East Galesburg. Three children are deceased. Three brothers, James Cubbage of Alexis, CW Cubbage of North Henderson, Abraham Cubbage of Knoxville, and one sister, Nancy Woody of Galesburg are also left to mourn her death. In addition 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive her.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist church in East Galesburg. Following the services the remains were brought to Galesburg and were interred in Linwood Cemetery.
