GALESBURG - Arthur Lee Lewis, 79, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Galesburg, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, at Pikes Peak Hospices in Colorado Springs.
Born Jan. 31, 1923, in Conway, Ark., to Thomas Ollie and Isabell Manuell Lewis, he married Erma June Smith on Sept. 21, 1950, in Colorado Springs. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. David (Michelle) MacAlpine of Plano, Texas, and Sharon Laughter of San Diego, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael, on Nov. 1, 2001; two brothers; and two sisters.
He was a World War II and Korean War Army Medical Corps veteran with rank of technical sergeant.
He owned and operated the Superior Construction Co. in Colorado Springs for 35 years, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Highview Baptist Church in Woodland Park, Colo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Robert Eshleman will officiate. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials can be made to Pikes Peak Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4051 in Colorado.
