"MRS. MINNIE LEWIS CREEN // Mrs. Minnie LEWIS CREEN, widow of William CREEN, died at 5:30 p.m. yesterday in City Hospital after an illness of several weeks. // Mrs. CREEN lived at 1051 Glade Rd., and had resided in Columbus for the last 70 years. // Born in Harris County, Ga., Jan. 13, 1878, she was a daughter of the late W. [sic - J.] R. and Angeline HARRIS LEWIS. // Survivors include several nieces and nephews. // Funeral arrangements will be announced by Striffler Mortuary." [Columbus (GA) Ledger newspaper, Friday, 13 MAR 1953, p. 2.]

"MRS. MINNIE LEWIS CREEN // Funeral for Mrs. Minnie LEWIS CREEN, will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Strifflers Chapel, with the Rev. E. R. BROADWELL, pastor of Porter Memorial Baptist Church, conducting the service. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery. // Mrs. CREEN, widow of William CREEN, lived at 1051 Glade Rd. the last 70 years....[Columbus (GA) Ledger newspaper, Saturday, 14 MAR 1953, p. 2.]

Per Georgia Death Index: Minnie CREEN, White female, died 12 MAR 1953, aged 75 years, in Muscogee County, Georgia, as a resident of the same county, death certificate #6944.

Newspaper death notice for her sister, Emma (LEWIS) HUDSON, who died 26 OCT 1936 and is buried in the same lot with her, reports survived by "a sister Mrs. Minnie CREENE, Columbus." Their brother William F. LEWIS died 25 DEC 1947 and was survived by "two sisters, Mrs. Emma HUDSON and Mrs. Minnie CREAM, both of Columbus."

The entry in the Sexton's card file for Riverdale shows: Minnie GREEN [sic], born in Harris Co., Ga., daughter of W. [sic] R. and Angeline HARRIS LEWIS, died of congestive heart failure in Columbus, Ga.; buried 3-15-1953 in Section 9, west half of Lot 23, in a Monarch vault by undertaker Striffler (burial permit #8432) - Sexton J. W. GRIDER.(J.M.L.)
