Eloise's Obituary:
Mrs. Eloise Carroll Lewis, 88, of Bakerhill, Alabama, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 1 p.m., at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel in Eufaula. Rev. Gerald Carroll will officiate and burial will follow in Pond Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery with Chapman Funeral Home in Eufaula directing. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Flowers will be welcomed because Eloise loved them so much or donations may be made to the Pond Bethel Methodist Cemetery Fund, 563 Co. Rd. 75, Eufaula, Alabama 36027.
Eloise was born July 27, 1923, in Barbour County, Alabama, the daughter of the late Jessie and Nancy Wilkins Carroll. She was preceded in death by 1 brother Leroy Carroll and 5 sisters: Jessie Mae Baggette, Ida Hartzog, Ada Hartzog, Lelia Hartzog and Virgie Fillingim.
Eloise was a wonderful wife and helpmate to her husband Neal as well as a great mother and grandmother. She was known for her sewing and cooking, especially known for her chocolate chip cookies and sand tarts that she made each Christmas. Eloise, Mama, Mimi and Aunt Eloise will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include her husband of almost 70 years: Homer Neal Lewis, Bakerhill, Alabama; her daughter: Susan (Perry) Hinds, Auburn, Alabama; 2 granddaughers: Robin (Steve) Martin, Auburn, Alabama and Captain Kate Hinds, Dayton, Ohio; 1 great-granddaughter: Reagan Martin, Auburn, Alabama and a host of nieces and nephews.
