Hilda R. Lewis
Eckhart - Hilda R. "Peg" Lewis, 72, died Friday, Sept. 20, 1991 at Frostburg Community Hospital.
Born in Chaneysville, Pa., May 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ora Mae
Mrs. Lewis was a volunteer for the Heart Foundation, the Crippled Children's League, and the Multiple
Sclerosis Foundation. She was a member of the Farrady Unit 24, American Legion Auxiliary, Frostburg,
Women of the Moose Chapter 221, a life member of the Lonaconing Republican Club, and a member
of Petunia Council 10, Westernport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph B. Lewis, in 1965, and by a son, Richard Lewis,
Surviving are three sons, Bradford "Sonny" Lewis, Glen Rock, Pa., William R. Lewis, Eckhart, Ronald
L. Lewis, Mechanicsville, one daughter, Norma "Sally" Dabila, LaVale, seven sisters, Virginia (Day) Weller,
Hagerstown, Dorothy (Day) Hite, Marion, S.C., Jean (Day) Hite and Martha (Day) Sneathen, both of
Cumberland, Sharon (Day) Sigwald, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Doris (Day) Miller, Rockville, and Carol
(Day) Shewbridge, Cumberland, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and her companion, Dayton
Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at the funeral home by the Farrady Auxiliary Unit on Saturday at 7:30
p.m. and the Women of the Moose on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
