Dr. Anthony A. Lewandowski, who specialized in internal medicine and kidney diseases, died on Sunday, of pancreatic cancer, at his home on Sherwood Road in Stoneleigh.

Dr. Lewandowski, who was 63, was in private practice from 1962 until he retired in 1990.

He was on the staffs of University of Maryland, South Baltimore General, Mercy, St. Joseph, Maryland General and Union Memorial Hospitals. He was a member of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland, the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology. In the seventies, he served as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Maryland Medical School.

Born in Baltimore, the son of Anna and Anthony Lewandowski, he attended St. Charles College and was a graduate of Loyola College and the University of Maryland Medical School.

In the 1950's, he served in the Army Medical Corps in Europe, attaing the rank of captain.

He is survived by his wife, the former Patsy J. Mumaw, two sons, Robert Anthony Lewandowski of Centreville, VA, and David James Lewandowski of Baltimore, a daughter, Lisa Ann Verger, of Baltimore, two brothers, Richard and Theodore Lewandowski, both of Cockeysville and a granddaughter.

The family suggested memorial contributions to St. Joseph's Hospital or its hopice program.
